  3. Reality • Life in community • Parents with psychiatric disabilities are in many cases single • Low income / struggle for life • High barrier for using services

  4. Project • Literature research: has been done and a report is available (in Dutch) • Research rehabilitation needs (N= 60) • Five case-studies • Development of a Rehabilitation module for the parent role • Pilot (N=30) • Evaluation pilot and redress of the module • Brochure, presentation etc. spring 2006

  5. Goal and target group Goal: • Developing of a rehabilitation program For who? • Clients in their role as parent with or without responsibility for the child • Caregivers and students at university

  8. Additive value of a Rehabilitation program • Rehabilitation: start with the needs and values of the indiviual • Combination with other important roles • Early start (prevention)

  9. Extra environmental demands • Symptoms/ demands parentship • Explain psychiatric disibility to others • Housekeeping • Being assertive for oneself and child • Being a parent / living apart
