SYTRAL’s as a public transport authority • Define and implement the urban transport policy • Finance network operations and maintenance • Design, finance and build network extensions • Delegate network operations to companies and control the quality of service • Decide on routes, schedules, fares... • Monitor traffic flow and conduct customer surveys • Maintain rolling stock, buildings, tracks, tunnels.

Public transport system • Top French regional network in terms of availability and multimodality (five modes): • Metro: 4 lines,178 carriages, 20.3 km and 43 stations • Cable car: 2 lines, 6 carriages and 1.2 km • Tramway: 4 lignes, 73 trains, 48.8 km and 81 stations • Trolleybus: 7 lines, 120 buses and 45 km • Bus and minibus: 98 lines, 860 buses and 1142 km • School services: 141 lines, 112 buses and 1060 km

Major interconnecting routes • A strong network linking the different modes of public transport and roadways with the park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts of town • 70 % of traffic is powerd by electricity All metro, tramway and C1 line trolleybus stations are accessible except Croix-Paquet station.
