  3. What is Podcasting? “Podcasting is basically the creation and distribution of amateur radio, plain and simple.” --Will Richardson Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms

  4. What is Audacity? Audacity is a program through which you and your students can create and edit original podcasts.

  5. Making Podcasts Available to Students You can distribute podcasts by posting to: • A blog (Try: www.edublogs.org) • Wikispaces • Quia • A teacher webpage • iTunes

  6. Audacity and Podcasts in the WL/ESOL Classrooms • Listening • Vocabulary lists • Fluency readings • Text dialogues • Speaking & Assessment • Pair dialogues • Fluency reading assessments • Student responses to prompt • Teacher assessment • Student self-assessment and awareness building

  9. More Podcasts from iTunes iTunes has a wealth of free Podcasts already made by WL and ESOL teachers from around the world. To access these resources: • Download and install iTunes • Go to iTunes Store (left task pane) • Under iTunes Store, click on “iTunes U” • Under Categories, click on “Language” • Begin exploring podcasts in the target language! You can also use the search field in order to find educational podcasts in various languages. You can also access free educational podcasts from www.epnweb.org.
