  1. ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Sra. Wendy Utterback 832-249-5643 wutterback1@kleinisd.net http://classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/wutterback1/

  2. About me… • Graduated from Angelo State University • Certified in Spanish and speech • 7th year teaching –5th year at Kleb • Native speaker

  3. Expectations • Your child is expected to participate in oral exercises in order to practice speaking Spanish (we did one last week!). • Your child should come to class prepared every day with his supplies (list went home first week of school & is on my home page).

  4. Expectations (cont…) • All work must be turned in written in pen unless otherwise stated, for example, a scantron test (-10 points) • Name, date, class period and title must be written on all work turned in, including scantron tests (-10 if it’s missing)

  5. Expectations (cont…) • Bonus points are offered on EVERY chapter test by turning in the crossword puzzle found on the companion website • Encourage your child to use what he already knows and applaud his efforts

  6. Supply List • Blue or Black Pen (work turned in must always be in pen) • Grading Pen (I collected them last week) • Pencil (for scantron tests) • Colored pencils (or markers), scissors and a glue stick • Workbook • Binder (not required but would be beneficial)

  7. Common Classroom Expressions • Written in each class period complete with English pronunciation guides • The goal is to get the students accustomed to speaking in Spanish so that it can become second nature to them • I encourage you to use these expressions as often as you can with your child

  8. Textbooks • Spanish classes now have a ‘class set’! Workbook are not available yet but when the students get them they are expected to bring them to class every day

  9. Textbooks (cont…) • Online access to the textbook is available: www.pearsonsuccessnet.com (ID: sracolon PW: spanish1) • My website has instructions on how to open the book online: http://classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/wutterback1/links_page.htm

  10. Companion Website • www.phschool.com • Vocabulary .pdf files for every chapter • Bonus points for chapter test (puzzles) • Online test prep for each chapter • Hip hop songs • Online activities for extra help

  11. When am I available? • Conference period is from 3:10-3:50 (7th period) • eMail: wutterback1@kleinisd.net (This is the best way to reach me) • Phone: • 832-249-5643 (my extension) • 832-249-5500 Kleb’s main number
