  2. Animals • Bighorn Sheep • Usually lives to be 10 years old • Pronghorn Antelope • It weighs 90-140 lbs.

  3. Desert Toad • Lives for only about 8 years • Javelina • Is a type of wild boar • It only has three toes on its back feet

  4. Armadillo lizard • It is an endangered species that lives in the Sonoran desert • Bobcat • Is a member of the cat family • It hunts rabbits and squirrels

  5. Kangaroo Rat • Is about 14 inches long including its tail • Desert Tortoise • It lives to be 80 years old

  6. Plants • The Barrel Cactus • It has 3-4 inch spines • The Brittle Bush • It grows 2-5 feet tall

  7. ChainfruitCholla • Grows to be about 15 feet tall • Triangle Leaf Bursage • It usually lives for about 50 years

  8. The Palo Verde • It grows at a very slow pace • However it grows to be 5 feet tall • Crimson Hedgehog Cactus • Blooms 3-5 days after rain

  9. The Joshua Tree • Grows 10-40 feet tall • Pancake Prickly Pear Cactus • Usually grows 10 feet tall

  10. Climate • It can get as low as 8 degrees fahrenheit • Winds can blow from 25-75 mph, which can sometimes cause sandstorms

  11. Landforms • The desert is mostly made up of sand dunes • However they sometimes have canyons formed by rivers

  12. Insects • There are many beetles in the desert • There are also some poisonous spiders in the desert
