  1. Quality Improvement at HEEM What is the project? At the heart of this project is a focus on raising the understanding, skills and confidence of all HEEM staff to work with improvement methodologies, to allow everyone to think differently about delivering business as usual and developmental activities, provide opportunities to learn from others and share good practice. Who is involved? Anne Marlow, Project Owner Hayley Gosling, Project Manager Orlando Hampton, Programme Manager Reena Valand, Project Co-ordinator Janet Burns, Project Administrator Colleagues will be supported after the training as part of their continued professional development by a HEEM quality improvement champion who can proactively work with colleagues to identify, design and deliver small improvements in their everyday work. What does the project aim to achieve? Innovation and Quality Improvement are essential requirements for any organisation wanting to support and realise sustainable improvement in the delivery of high quality services. The project will provide a one day quality improvement training course commencing in January 2014 for all staff to participate in & identify a quality improvement project they can work on individually, in pairs or as a small team. • The project will increase the opportunities for individuals and teams to identify and engage proactively in quality improvement work relevant to their everyday working activities. “ The project supports the development of HEEM as a learning organisation and will ‘focus on innovation in everything we do’. It also supports the development of skills and behaviours that are central to the values of ‘inspire and innovate, ‘owning the solution’ and working with care and compassion. Hayley Gosling We have 18 colleagues who will be quality improvement champions (QIC) and will be supporting the work of the project. For HEEM Partners the project will provide greater opportunity to deliver quality, safety and cost improvements at scale through the strategy and operations of HEEM. • For the organisation it aims to create and sustain a cohesive innovation and improvement culture within HEEM, including the wider educator workforce. If you would like to find out more about being a QIC please contact hayley.gosling@nhs.net • Quality Improvement Champions pictured top row , left to right (Orlando Hampton, Robin Sturtivant, Nicola Ogden, Kimberly Messam, Sue Ackermann, Andrew Petherbridge, Jayne Lawrence, Sheila Hawkins) and pictured bottom row, left to right (Reena Valand, Hayley Gosling, Madeline Leverton and Sue Betts) For a full list of QIC and who will be supporting your directorate please see the staff intranet.
