  3. Solicitation • One in 33 received an aggressive sexual solicitation by someone who asked to meet them somewhere, called them on the telephone, or sent them regular mail, money, or gifts. • Video M

  4. Parental Control Software • 92% of Parent Respondents to a 2004 online safety survey conducted by America Online and the National Cyber Security Alliance responded that they do not currently use parental control software on their home computers. • Why monitor? Here is one reason M

Safe Internet Use at Home • Different monitoring levels as kids advance in grade level • Computer in a common location if possible • Time Limits-unplug the computer from the internet or turn off the wireless access point if necessary • Monitoring/filtering software • Get educated about what kids are doing online (visit web resources) • Golden rule of cyberspace: “Don’t do anything online that you wouldn’t do in real life.” Don’t say anything online that you would be embarrassed by sharing with parents, grandparents, etc!. • Check the your child’s browser history M
