  1. Repairing of Building Services Engineering Systems Rak-43.3313 Repair Methods of Structures, exercise (4 cr) Esko Sistonen

  2. Some basics... Demolition work from the top downwards; HVAC repair vice versa Ventilation: from negative pressure to overpressure  Cleanliness of bag filter and heat exchanger: supply, exhaust, outside, and waste air duct  Technical systems: ground loop heat pump systems,..

  3. Some basics... Sound absorber Technical room Planning before repair action Sewer pipe Header  Cold (blue) and warm (red) water supply Pipes (white) from boiler and ground loop heat pump Floor heating pipes

  4. Dirtyexhaustoutlet Waterleak of wallsump Re-insulatedwaterpipes Waterleak of stormwaterdrainagefromflatroof

  5. Districtheatingsystem Watershutoffvalves -> asbestos, mould

  6. Waterleak of castirondrainpipe Heatdistributionroom Inspectionpanel of wastesump Insulationgroove in suspendedceiling

  7. Waterleak of hotwaterheatingsystem Minorwaterleak of olddrainpipe

  8. HVAC Repair Works • duct work • machinery installations • insulation work • terminal installation • control and monitoring work • non-sewers • floor drains • the heat distribution room • pipe installation • heating coil installation • water and sewer fitments

  9. From natural ventilation to exhaust ventilation Installation of lining hose into air shaft of natural ventilation

  10. -Bathrooms made of metal plates -Repair of plastic drain pipes

  11. Alternative water and sewer pipe repair methods *renewal of the whole piping system -requires the demolition work of structures (structures of channels) -takes-6mths – interference for users (water breaks, toilets, showers, common areas or containers) -dust, noise -the end product is known: the pipes are new *pipe coating -tube in tube coating with epoxy -fast – a bit interference (takes up only 2 days) -no noise -durability of app. 20 years of experience in Western Europe, for a longer time period -Insurance companies does not necessarily give an age reduction -the coating is also possible for a warm and cold water pipes

  12. Plastics piping systems for renovation of underground nonpressure drainage and sewerage networks - Parts 1-4.  SFS-EN ISO 11298-1 (2011). Plastics piping systems for renovation of underground water supply networks - Parts 1-3.  SFS-EN 12007-4 (Mars 2013). Gas infrastructure - Pipelines for maximum operating pressure up to and including 16 bar - Part 4: Specific functional requirements for renovation.  SFS-EN 13380 (December 2001). General requirements for components used for renovation and repair of drain and sewer systems outside buildings.

  14. Several standards… SFS-EN 13566 (2003). Plastics piping systems for renovation of underground non-pressure drainage and sewerage Networks - Parts 1-7. SFS-EN 15885 (January 2011). Classification and characteristics of techniques for renovation and repair of drains and sewers.
