  3. - Infant experiences distress / anxiety / fear ↓ - Seek proximity from adults ↓ - Adults able to give comforts ↓ - Ease attachment behaviour Resume normal exploratory behaviour Develop trust / confidence

  4. Risk Factors Child - Neonatal intensive care - Disability Parent - Drugs / alcohol - Postnatal depression - Altered family dynamics - Abuse / neglect

  5. Wide Spectrum - Secure attachment - Insecure - Ambivalent - avoidant - Disorganised

  6. Consequences - Relationship difficulties, behavioural problems, education failure, poor self esteem - Drugs / alcohol problems, criminality, unemployment, homelessness - Parenting Problems - Mental health problems
