  2. When – Plan your date • Allow plenty of time to plan – 6 months is about right • Is there competition for date selected? • Check with Chamber of commerce and other community planners to see what is on the local calendar • Time – 9am to 2pm

  3. WHERE – How large a space is needed • How many vendors are being considered • How many vendors require electricity • How many tables are needed • How many chairs are required • Will there be food service • Vendors all inside or can you expand to outdoors

  4. WHY – Club expectations • A gift to the community – free to vendors • Planned profit – fee for tables • Partner with another organization – cost to club

  5. WHO – Attendees • Women • Seniors • General population • Membership only

  6. GETTING STARTED - Establish your team • Six members to start and divide responsibility • Phone your vendors • Enroll rest of members and delegate

  7. HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AS PARTNERS • Doctors - Specialists • Hospital • Radiologists • Pharmacies • Prosthetics experts • Bloodmobile • Lions club • Diabetes suppliers • Support Agencies – Alzheimer’s Association, Deaf Services, Diabetes Association, Center for Independent Living

GFWC Greater Ocala Woman’s Club • Health Fair participants (31 indoor vendors plus several outdoor services ie: Bloodmobile and Lions Club Mobile Test Lab) • Physical Therapist – grip strength testing • Too Your Health Spa – offered discount to spa exercise classes • Blue Cross/Blue Shield – free handouts • Munroe Regional Hospital – blood pressure tests • *Francks Pharmacy – vitamin and supplements counseling – free give aways • *Biddings Pharmacy – Diabetes supplies • **Note – avoid competition, both pharmacies knew the other would be present but would be specializing in one area

GFWC Greater Ocala Woman’s Club – cont. • Southeast Organ & Tissue Donation • Arnette House – local teen rehabilitation agency • YMCA • Audibel Hearing Aids – free hearing tests • Local Chiropractor – free spine • Deaf Services – information on telephone devices • Eye Institute – Glacoma testing, vision test, literature on Lasik surgery and cataracts • Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence Shelter – literature and help line information • Fire Department – Emergency vehicles

  11. ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE! • Radio/TV – public stations • Flyers • Local broadcasting from the event • Bank signs • Church signs • Local newspapers or free ad space

  12. AFTER THE BIG DAY!! • Evaluations from vendors – Will you be interested in next year • Evaluations from members • Personal note of thanks to vendors • Record volunteer hours for reporting
