  1. If you are not accompanying your children, make sure... They wear a watch and know when they’re curfew is. Have enough money to call home if needed. Not to eat any candy until they get home and you inspect it first. You and your children know in advance the route they will be taking.

  2. Be careful when crossing streets. Walk on sidewalks, not in the street. Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic if there are no sidewalks. Walk, do not run, from house to house. Do not cross yards and lawns where unseen objects or the uneven terrain can present tripping hazards.

  3. It makes it hard to kidnap kids if other kids are around. Never let your children trick or treat alone!! Especially under the age of 12. Have them walk with lots of friends.

  4. Costume Safety Tips: • Make sure the material is fire resistant. • Choose bright colors or add reflective tape. • Make sure the costume’s not a tripping hazard. • If it’s cold outside, wear warm clothes under the costume.

  5. If they go without you, remind your children to... Trick-or-treat in familiar neighborhoods--at homes of people you know. If approached by a stranger, go to the nearest well lit house and find an adult. Don’t trust anyone they don’t know or recognize (even if they think they’re just fooling around).

  6. And for all of you who are old enough to do so…

  7. Drinking and Driving KILLS!!

  8. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Have a spooky time and make it mishap free for everyone!
