  1. How 3D Modeling Is Used

  2. Entertainment • 3D modeling is usually used in films, there isn’t many films or big TV shows that come out of Hollywood that don’t use an element of 3D modeling. • It is used in special effects creating new environments and supernatural occurrences, but its used a lot of the time in shots to add things that you wouldn’t even realize are fake. • CGI is used to remove things from scenes too, like taking out palm trees from a scene where palm trees wouldn’t or shouldn’t be.

  3. Gaming • Video games are becoming more and more realistic thanks to the advances in 3D modeling software. • Whether its shooting aliens or driving super cars at incredibly high speeds, its all made using 3D modeling. • Everything in the game, the scene, the props, the people is designed, modeled and then animated.

  4. Architecture • For years, renderers would produce plans and blueprints, usually very realistic, that was the first picture of the new building. • Now they are made in 3D modeling software. You are able to add motion and depth so that your clients can see a “fly-by” that shows all the different angles of vision (including birds eye and ground perspective view). • They can also co inside the building to show interiors.

  5. Publishing • Publishers of textbooks and other illustrated books are making use of 3D modeling more and more. • It allows them to show pictures that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to get, for many different reasons. • Sometimes the illustrators may be fantastical and they could help show an artist’s version of something that people has never seen before like historic events or visions of the future.

  6. Advertising • 3D modeling artists can help advertisers and marketers to depict their products in the ideal state. • It allows companies to render new cars, new product packaging and prototypes at drastic savings. • If it doesn’t play they can fix it by merely changing the computer model.

  7. Geology And Science • Geologists and scientists can use 3D modeling to create models that simulate earthquakes and landforms, such as ocean trenches, that let them see the affects of stresses. • Additionally, they can simulate motion, like flight patters including various factors that affect them.
