Diwali • Diwali is known as the festival of lights. • It is celebrated because on this day Lord Rama returned home to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. • It is celebrated during Oct.-Nov. every year. • People decorate their homes, sweets are distributed by everyone and thousands of lamps are light up to create a world of fantasy.

  3. Holi . Holi is the festival of colours. . People all over India celebrate this festival by playing colours and give sweets to relatives and many more. . There is a story behind this festival and because of that story people still burn holika(bonfire). . It is celebrated in the month of March.

  4. RakshaBandhan • This festival is devoted to the beautiful relationship shared by brothers and sisters. It is a festival of brothers and sisters. • On this day, sister tie rakhi ( a thread) on their brother’s right wrist and pray for their safety and brother gives a gift to his sister for praying for his safety. • It is celebrated in the month of August.

  5. Christmas • Christmas is celebrated by Christian because Jesus Christ was born on this day. • Christmas is celebrated on 25th December. • A special kind of decorated tree, known as Christmas Tree is put up in homes.

  6. Eid • Eid is known as the ‘festivals of breaking of the fast’. • It is celebrated by Muslims that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. • People wear new clothes and after Eid prayers greet each other by saying ‘Eid Mubarak’ followed by a formal embrace.
