  2. Locate on a world and regional political-physical map: Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Sierra Madre Mountains,Panama Canal, Amazon River, Andes Mountains, and Atacama Desert

  3. The Pacific Ocean is to the west.

  4. The Atlantic Ocean is to the east.

  5. The Caribbean Sea is north of South America and south of the island nations of the Caribbean.

  6. The Gulf of Mexico touches the southern coast of the USA and the eastern coast of Mexico.

  7. The Panama Canal creates a short-cut between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

  9. The Amazon River is second in length only to Africa’s Nile River.

  10. The Amazon Drainage Basin: So many tributaries feed into the Amazon, it carries more water than any other river on the planet.
