Diseases: Digestive • Diabetes-Blood sugar is too high • Type 1-Genetic; body’s immune system attacks cells that make insulin • Type 2-Developed; Body can’t make enough insulin to keep up with sugar in blood • Acid Reflux-Acid from the stomach bubbles up into esophagus (frequent symptom=“heart” burn) • Stomach Ulcers-Mucus in stomach wears away and acid deteriorates stomach walls

Diseases: Excretory • Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)-bacteria enters body through urethra and multiplies • Kidney Stones-balance of salt, water, and minerals in body gets “out of whack” and extra minerals collect as “stone” • Kidney Failure-blood flow to kidneys blocked or kidney is directly damaged • Dialysis-blood filtered through a machine every few days

Diseases: Nervous • Brain Damage-Hitting your head too hard in certain areas of the brain affects certain functions in the body • Concussion or “seeing stars” • Parkinson’s Disease-Genetic disease that breaks down motor function over time. Symptoms-tremors, shaking, and loss of motor function • Alzheimer's Disease-Neural degeneration over time. Symptoms-loss of long-term memory

  5. Diseases: Endocrine • Hormonal Imbalance • Over-active Thyroid (hyperthyroidism) • Under-active Thyroid (hypothyroidism) • Cancers (pancreatic, thyroid, etc.)
