  2. School Name/Location • The school name is University of Southern California. • It’s located in Los Angeles , California.

  3. History of USC • In 1879 three people donated 308 lots of land to establish the campus of USC. • They also donated the money to build the buildings. • In 1880 USC formally opened with 53 students and 10 teachers. • The first President of USC was Marion McKinley Bovard.

  4. Famous Alumni Some Famous Alumni of USC are : • Whitney Port (Cast Member of MTV’s The Hills. • Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints Quarterback) • Will Ferrell (Actor)

  5. School Colors • The school colors are Cardinal & Gold.

  6. School Mascot • The school mascot is the Trojan.

  7. Art Programs, Opportunities, and venues. • USC offers Cinematic Arts , Music Performances , Listening , Studio Arts , and Theatre. • Some venues include the Helen Lindhurst Fine Arts Gallery and the Helen Lindhurst Architecture Gallery.

  8. Intramural Activities • Some Intramural activities include Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, and Tennis. • USC has more then 9,600 participants in the Intramural program.

  9. Student Life • In LA you’ll never get bored! There are plenty of places off campus. From going shopping on Rodeo Drive to going to downtown Hollywood. • USC freshmen aren’t required to live on campus.

  10. Living Quarters • There are more than 30 living areas for apartments. • There are about 12 living areas for suites. • You get to fill out a preference card. (Air conditioning , Parking) • The campus does not provide meals , but there are plenty of places to eat on campus!

  11. Degrees Offered • Degree types offered are Bachelors, Masters, and Doctors.

  12. Majors Offered • Some majors are Art History, Chemistry , Economics, Philosophy, Communication, Dental Hygiene and Architecture.

Student Demographics Undergraduate Demographics . • Asian/Pacific Islander = 21.7%(3,522 students) • African American = 5.6%(913 students) • Hispanic = 13.1% (2,150 students) • Caucasian = 47% (7,706 students) • Native American = 0.8% (127 students) • International Studies = 9.0% (1,481 students) • Unknown/Other = 2.8% (455 students) • A total of 16,384 Students.

  14. Financial Assistance Opportunities. • USC offers Financial Aid. • They also offer Grants and Scholarships. • More than 60% of students at USC receive some type of financial aid.

Application Requirements • There are 2 parts of the application. • Part one is $10. • Part two (if Part 1 was submitted) is $40. • Part two ( if Part 1 was not submitted) is $65. • Fees apply to all applicants (There is no discount for California residents) • They require an essay (preferably 1 page long)

  16. Admission Requirements USC looks at applicants grades, test scores, high school course work, and counselor/teacher recommendations. Some majors like fine arts and architecture require other special requirements, like an audition or a portfolio. Enrolling students are expected to complete 2 years of history, four years of English, four years of Math, 2 years of science, and 2 years of a foreign language (3 years recommended).

  17. Admission Requirements (Continued) One year of visual or performing arts are also required. USC looks at your class rank and advance placement (AP) classes too. If you aren’t in AP classes in your freshman year, don’t give up because they pay special attention to your sophomore, junior, and senior years. They require SAT or ACT scores. They also look at your activities outside of your classroom .
