  2. It is a scaly red fish with yellow, orange eyes. It has a mouth shaped like a beak. River salmon are pink. Atlantic salmon are gray. Salmon look like tiny sharks. It looks a little like a trout. PhYSICAL DESCRIPTION

  3. Habitat • In the summer, salmon go the place in the river where they were born to lay eggs. • The babies stay in the river until they are ready to go out on there own. • Atlantic salmon turn pink in fresh water. • Chinook salmon look like the riverbed. • Salmon spend their lives mostly in the ocean and in the rivers have their young.

  4. Food chain • Adultsalmon eat krill, small fish, and shellfish. • Bears, otters, ravens and other dead-fish eaters eat salmon. • It is weird that all these animals eat them when they are dead instead of catching them. • Frys are eaten by birds, insects, and other fish.

  5. Life cycle • Salmon begin as eggs which turn into alevin. • The alevinbecome fry. • A fry turns into a parrwhich turns into a smolt. • The smolt turns into an adult. • Finally, the adult turns into a spawning adult.

  6. Fun facts • Salmon die after they spawn. • Salmon go to the start of the river to lay eggs. • The King Salmon is the state fish of Alaska.
