  1. Joshua Billiel Affects of Cellular Phones on Society.

  2. What is Cellular? • Cellular: A type of wireless communication that is most familiar to mobile phones users. It's called 'cellular' because the system uses many base stations to divide a service area into multiple 'cells'. Cellular calls are transferred from base station to base station as a user travels from cell to cell.

  3. A Brief History • In 1973, the first phone call was made on a cellular phone. Martin Cooper who was a the general manager of Motorola’s communications division placed the first call to his rival at AT&T's Bell Labs from the streets of New York City.

  9. Brain Cancer Continued… • Current scientific evidence does not show any negative health effects from the low levels of electromagnetic energy emitted by mobile phones, says the Food and Drug Administration. But some recent studies suggest a possible link between mobile phones and cancer and warrant follow-up, the agency says, to determine with more certainty whether cell phones are safe.

  10. Drive Now Talk Later • A new evaluation by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis (HCRA) estimates that the use of cell phones by drivers may result in approximately 2,600 deaths, 330,000 moderate to critical injuries, and 1.5 million instances of property damage in America per year.
