  2. We use the Present Continuous Tense to talk about: • An action that is happening at the time of speaking • Please be quiet. I am watching TV. • I am teaching right now. • I am not sleeping. • Actions that are happening in the near future. • He is having dinner with Sue tonight. • They are going to Eurupe next week. • Are you leaving tomorrow morning?

  3. Form: (+) Affirmative = S.A.G. S.A.G. = (Subject + Auxiliary verb “be” + Gerund) *Gerund = Verb + ing

  4. Form: (-) Negative = S.A. “not” G. S.A. “not” G. = Subject + Auxiliary verb “be” + “not”+ Gerund

  5. Form: (?) Yes / No Question = A.S.G. A.S.G. = Auxiliary Verb “be” + Subject + Gerund * There is no contracted form in Questions.

  6. Form: (?) Follow Up Questions - Q.A.S.G. Q.A.S.G. = Question Word + Auxiliary Verb “Be” + Subject + Gerund.

  7. Non-Continuous Verbs • These are verbs that cannot be used in the Continuous tense!

I love drinking café lattes. Jack: Really? How often do you drink coffee? Jill: Well, I usually drink coffee everyday. How about you? Jack: Me too! What coffee shop do you usually go to? Jill: I really like Noriter. They have the best espresso. Do you ever drink Espresso? Jack: I occasionally drink espresso when I order a Café Affogato. Do you like drinking Café Affogatos? Jill: Oh yeah! They’re awesome! How often do you drink them? Jack: I probably drink a café affogato once a month. They are really sweet. Jill: That’s cool. Hey Jack, what are you doing after we get coffee? Jack: I don’t have any plans. Why? Jill: Do you want to watch a movie? Jack: Sure! I love watching movies! Jill: Great! Let’s go!
