  14. Which of the following are OK? Digging up your front lawn in the shape of GRAD 2014 and filling it in with concrete. Spray painting Grad 2014 on the side of your house. Releasing live animals/insects in your living room and risk killing some of them. Setting off firecrackers/smoke bombs in your basement. Showing up intoxicated to a family function. Arguing with parents about consequences.

  15. Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!! Non-School Events: • Parties in private homes • Overnight trips to Whistler, Harrison, etc. • S-Trips • Overnight camping trips: long weekend in May • Parties at Crescent Beach • After-Grad parties organized by parents not sanctioned by PAC. May be in homes/halls • Any event where alcohol is served

  16. Let’s just think, for a moment, about a “small” party for Grads unsupervised… and the risks: Damage to the house or to the area Intruders (uninvited guests) Violence, injuries, reports of sexual assault Police investigation of participants, possible criminal charges Hospitalization due to binge drinking or drug overdose Complaints to the school Angry neighbors and concerned parents storming the school Manpower of police, fire department, school officials Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!!

  17. Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!! Harrison Lake RCMP issue a warning every year regarding improving public safety on the May long weekend. Those of you who have had children graduating in the past know of our concerns, and this strict enforcement message from the RCMP underline our message about keeping safe.

  18. Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!! Graduation events must be: • ‘Substance free’ – students must not arrive under the influence of alcohol/drugs • Safe for everyone – staff and students • A pleasant experience for everyone – improper conduct will not be accepted

  19. Students involved with risky/unsafe behaviour will lose the privilege of participation at special events. Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!!

  23. Possible Consequences for risky behaviour: Police and charges Suspension from school (provincial examinations, Grad activities such as the Banquet and Yearbook signing party, Grade 12 course work) Disqualification for school and District scholarships as well as Passport to Education Restitution (payment, time) - but it does not come close to the time which people spend on investigating the issue. Money paid for Banquet, etc, not refunded. Stay Focused, Stay Safe, Stay Real!!!
