  3. Description: • Largest bear in North America • 700 pounds • are creamy yellow, nearly black, flicked grey, or blue grey with thick fur • Can stand 11 feet tall

  4. Adaptations: • Have great hearing and smell to help themhunt • Sharp teeth and claws for hunting • Hibernates in cold months when food is scarce

  5. Food Chain: • Is on the top of food chain • Has no predators other than humans • Eats roots, plants, berries, sheep, salmon, caribou, grasses, insects, mice, squirrels, elk

  6. Interesting Facts: • Very good fishermen • Can take a few steps on hind legs • Can run 40 miles an hour for short distances • Eight species • 1 to 4 cubs
