Religion

Carthaginian religion was based almost entirely off of Phoenician beliefs. Though there were some Jews living in Carthage, most of the Carthaginians worshiped gods that were based on Phoenician gods. This religion was called Pantheon. The main gods at the time were Tanit and Ba’alHammon.

Carthaginians spoke a variety of Phoenician languages, but mostly spoke Punic. Punic is a Semitic language that originated in the Carthaginians original home Phoenicia, which is now modern Lebanon.
