National Sugar Adaption Strategy • Objectives: • Diversification; • Reducing the impact of sugar reform. • Results: • Divestment of assets; • Retraining and compensation; • Increase food production; • Suitable land use. • Administration: • Ministry of Finance • Ministry of Food Production • Funding/Duration • €77.144m • 2007-2016 • Targeted Beneficiaries: • Former cane farmers • Sugar workers • Residents of the sugar belt

Non-University Tertiary Education • Objectives: • Develop a sustainable non-energy economy • Results: • Widening access; • Financing system; • Managing system; • Restructuring the system. • Administration: • Ministry of Science Technology and Tertiary Education • Funding/Duration: • €27.3m • 2007-2011 • Targeted Beneficiaries: • Non Tertiary Institutions

Enabling Competitive Business • Objectives: • Develop a sustainable non-energy economy. • Results: • Management systems; • Improved business climate; • Diversified economy • Administration: • Ministry of Trade and Industry; • Ministry of Labour, Small and Micro-Enterprise Development. • Funding/Duration: • €16.34m • 2011-2016 • Targeted Beneficiaries: • University • BSOs • Research Institutions

Building Competitiveness in The Food and Beverage Sector (BDC) • Food Safety Awareness Program • Conduct Food Safety Audits • Provide Technical Assistance to manufacturers to upgrade their Food Safety System • Train and Certify persons/companies in HACCP , ISO 22000;2005,PAS220 • Increasing Market Access and Export Readiness • Co-ordinate the Industry’s Participation at the Trade Shows
