  21. Demographics - Flying Time • Average 8,300 hours • Maximum 23,000 • (10 years of working days airborne) • Total flying experience of our members is over 3 million hours

  22. Demographics - Types Flown • Ultra-lights through balloons and helicopters to jumbo jets • Average number of types is 43 • Maximum is 123 Different types • Most Airline pilots have flown 15-20 types

  24. Experience Beyond the Cockpit • Our members have: • significant experience in senior management • civilian industry or military • Variety of positions : Operations Managers, Chief Pilot, Safety Managers, Check Pilot • More than just pilots.

  25. Demographics -Miscellaneous • Only government employees who: • must have annual medical • technical re-qualification every year • Currently 70% civil background, 30% military • used to be the other way around • no more supply of military pilots • salary now well below military equivalent

  26. CFPA Members Are: • Highly qualified professionals • Experienced across the aviation industry • Deeply concerned with aviation safety • In touch with industry on a daily basis • The guardians of the system’s design and standards • Overall managers of the aviation system.

  27. Summary • CFPA members are critical to the government’s responsibility to develop and maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable aviation transportation system on behalf of the Canadian public.
