  1. CHOICES

  2. CHOICES • Genesis – a beginning • A good God You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50 v 11 • A personal God • A framework for living • A choice to trust God

  3. CHOICES • Deuteronomy 30 v 17 - 20 • 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. • Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. • Joshua 24 v 14 - 15 • 14 "Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

  4. CHOICES • Zimri, Tibni, Omri and Ahab – Elijah and a widow • 1 Kings 16 v 8 ……

  5. CONTEXT • Those who have – win! • No regard for humanity • You watch your back, stack your votes • Absorb the gods of the culture • No regard for the faith • Prosperity – skin deep!

  6. What is our Context?

  7. God speaks into the context Elijah said "I'm a servant of the living LORD, the God of Israel. And I swear in his name that it won't rain until I say so. There won't even be any dew on the ground."

  8. Know this! I am the God who provides and cares! Don't you know? Haven't you heard? The LORD is the eternal God, Creator of the earth. He never gets weary or tired; his wisdom cannot be measured. The LORD gives strength to those who are weary. Even young people get tired, then stumble and fall. But those who trust the LORD will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired. Isaiah 40 v 28 - 31

  9. Choices Life at the end of the road • v 13 – do not be afraid …it will not fail or dry up…. • v 24 – “Now I know this…that the Word of Jehovah …. is truth.” • Ahab – widow – me? Do I get it?
