Business Aspect of Telstra • History • Established in 1901 by the Postmaster Generals Department to manage all domestic phone services. • In 1982 Telstra became the official Telecommunications Corporation for all domestic and international telephone services. • Trading international since 1993. • Currently Telstra operates in over 19 countries worldwide.

  4. Financial Situation • Telstra reported revenue growth of 6.3% in mobiles for the first quarter of its 2003-04 year. • In 2002-03, revenue from mobiles grew only 4% after an ill-fated and short-lived attempt to reduce handset subsidies. • 2 ways to obtain finance: issue of share & sales asset.
