Leave Policy. General Rules There are three types of leave that are given in a calendar year: Earned Leave (EL ) Casual Leave (CL) Sick Leave (SL ) There will be no half day leave except CL. More than one type of leave (SL, CL, EL) cannot be combined in one day.

  1. Leave Policy • General Rules • There are three types of leave that are given in a calendar year: • Earned Leave (EL) • Casual Leave (CL) • Sick Leave (SL) • There will be no half day leave except CL. • More than one type of leave (SL, CL, EL) cannot be combined in one day.

  2. GENERAL RULES…… iv. Application/availmentof any leave more than due will result in leave without pay v. Wherever a holiday/off day falls between two days of leave it will be calculated on calendar basis, The holiday/off day will also be counted as leave. This will however not apply to CLs as it shall be calculated on the basis of working days.

  3. Casual Leave • Casual Leave is intended for urgent work or unforeseen circumstances. • Maximum casual leave that can be availed at a stretch at any time is three days. Sick Leave • Application of sick leave for more than 2 days must be supported by a medical certificate issued by a Registered Doctor.

  4. Earned Leave • ELs can be availed subject to a minimum of 3 days at a time and can be availed up to a maximum of 3 times in a year. • EL can be taken for less than 3 days if SL and CL have exhausted. • 30 days of EL will be set aside every year, to be utilized in that calendar year, even if the EL accumulation is 60 days of the previous year. Any unutilized EL, over and above 60 days, will lapse at the end of the calendar year. • EL will be pro-rated on a monthly basis, and can be utilized up to the balance available for that month.

  5. Maternity leave • As per the Maternity Benefits Act 1961. Salient features given below: • All women who have worked for a minimum of 80 days in the twelve months prior to delivery. • 12 weeks in case of delivery • 6 weeks in case of miscarriage from the date of miscarriage • Additional 1 month of sickness arising out of pregnancy, premature delivery or miscarriage, medical termination of pregnancy.
