Goals Establishing NW Europe as an internationally recognised region of excellence in coastal management can only be achieved by successfully utilising trans-national co-operation as a conduit to meet the following objectives: • Build European and local capacity to implement integrated coastal management programmes • Provide concrete solutions for current problems in the Northwest region using current best practice approaches and identify models for sustaining ICZM initiatives • Promote social and political responsibility for the coastal environment • Influence national spatial policy development in response to the EU recommendation on ICZM • Develop an integrated coastal information management system for Northwest Europe The COREPOINT Project - ECO-IMAGINE Training Course – 26/07/07

  6. NW Europe Coastal Resources Establish the Northwest Europe Coastal Resources Centre Development of a Virtual Coastal Resource Centre for NW Europe. The Centre (a web-based Portal) will house the following features: • A GIS (Geographic Information System) Coastal Atlas for NW Europe • Local information system (LIS) decision making tools for local authorities • A Media Information Resource Centre (MIRS) • A Coastal Zone Youth Club (CZYC) The COREPOINT Project - ECO-IMAGINE Training Course – 26/07/07

Websites • CoastWeb: • designed for professionals e.g. scientists, practitioners, researchers. • Media Information Resource System (MIRS): • is designed for Journalists interested in brief and accurate information such as press releases. • Coastal Zone Youth Club (CZYC): • is a website for accessing educational information (primary, secondary and higher).
