  2. 今しましょう 何かが変（へん）です： これから、お正月に家に過ごすことと友だちと過ごすことは違いますが、 似ています。

  3. From this point, spending New Years at home and spending it with friends is different but similar. Why does this NOT work as introduction to the compare/contrast essay?

  4. 直（なお）して下さい： これから、お正月に家に過ごすことと友だちと過ごすことは違いますが、 似ています。 これから、お正月を家で過ごすことと友だちと過ごすこの違う点と似ている点について説明します(or話します／書きます）。

  5. 日本語をもっと上手に見せる言葉： 違う点と似ている点 相違点と類似点 （そういてん／るいじてん） すご〜い！

  6. 練習しましょう！ 作文のイントロを書いてみよう。 Write introductions for compare/contrast essays on the following topics: • Sending a text/making a phone call • Bringing a lunch from home/buying lunch • Being “single”/having a boyfriend/girlfriend • Smartphone/non-smart phone • Studying alone/studying with others • Driving a car/riding a bicycle

  7. 作文反省（さくぶんはんせい／reflection） Analyze your score on the recent compare/contrast essay: • What were your strengths? • What helped “boost” your score or compensate for weaknesses in other areas? • What is an area that needs improvement? • What are some things you can/should do to improve and maximize your strengths?

  8. 1.テスト: 漢字／単語 2.　テストの後：　Pick up KLL 13 compounds list in back and use your handouts to write the hiragana reading and English meaning of the words.

  10. きろくする言葉： Words (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc.) Transitions NOT particles, verb/adjective endings (です、〜て、〜くて、etc.) After time is called, write the number on the card.
