  1. AGENDAEOC Team Training1/6/10 • Announcements • Grant writing class March 18-19 • CEP Committee • Diana appointed to UCC Region 9 • Blogging • Student demonstrations in November; what to expect this year • Restructuring EOC

  2. Emergency: big and overwhelming, everybody activated, community involved. i.e.: major earthquake, relocation Event: disrupting, distracting, doesn’t involve whole campus, i.e.: student demonstrations, labor union events, winter storm

  3. SME: Subject Matter Expert Provide information/advice/help in specific area: A&E (assessment) Animal Care ASAP/CAPS Classrooms Housing, Dining Student/Employee Health Fleet, Unitrans, TAPS EHS, HR Mapping/GIS Other? Provide good contact numbers including backups Keep updated information in EOC

EOC Event Team • Officially “assigned” to EOC Event Team for 1 year • Activated when requested by PD, FD, others • Will generally be for planned events • Expect to work 12-hour shift (weekends?) • Familiar with position duties; rely on checklists • Positions can “trade” between teams • Can call on any other EOC members for help 8. If full activation required – form the base team until everyone else can gather.

  5. Advantages More responsible with limited resources • Rest of EOC team isn’t called for every event • Not always calling the same person • Provide more experience for team • Create more ‘generalists’ • Allows for implementing a“virtual EOC” http://www.disasterhelp.gov/disastermanagement/

  6. Let’s pretend … Event Team gathered in the EOC (1st day) • Diana, Eben, Phil • Arrive at 10:30 or so • Supporting the ICP located at Lot 2 • Information from ICP sent via radio (Ops) • ICP requests portable toilets, meals, housing

  7. Comments? • Recruiting/assignment? • Frequency of meetings? • Exercises and training?
