  2. Unit Blog • http://bainteractivemedia.wordpress.com/ • Messages re. changes, study materials, unit handbooks, timetables, links etc.

  3. Structure for the year • SP + RESEARCH >> FMP >> show • Mainly self-learning year; very few ‘lessons’. • Tutor’s role is to support and help guide your work. Some people will need this more than others.

  4. Main aims • You should make something that you are passionate about and REALLY want to see work. • It’s NOT about corporate work; it should be EXPERIMENTAL. • May be part of FMP, exploring an aspect of it perhaps, or a trial run, but may not.

  5. But.... • it’s got to be interactive • it’s got to work • It needs to show original/creative thinking

  6. Learning agreements. • They need to set out the SCOPE of your project; the area you intend to explore, and give an idea of what you may end up with – this need not be overly precise. • The process: you come up with your idea. Discuss with tutor. Make amendments and come to an agreement. This needs to be done within 2 weeks, and you need to have already started creating by that point.

  7. Be ambitiousbut • Be realistic

  8. Also... • needs to be contextualised – where did the idea come from, what’s similar to it etc • need to take the audience into account (i.e is it art/game/commercial, is explanation needed etc) • platform needs to be taken into account (i.e. web, installation, dvd, mobiles etc) • record your progress – blog (weekly at least), sketchbook, images etc

  9. Hand-in • Working prototype • 1500 word essay • Blog with at least weekly entries • 10-15 minute presentation of the above
