Why use iPads for E-textbooks In a research article titled, “The smart way to use iPads in the classroom” by Linda Guernsey there is some great support for using iPads for E-textbooks. -According to Guernsey iPads can play a significant educational role in the modern classroom. (Guernsey, 2013). -E-texts are the future for classrooms, and iPads provide a versatile platform for E-textbooks to be used on. (Guernsey, 2013). -Due to the affordability of basic iPads when compared to other tablets iPads are a logical chioce for E-texts. (Guernesy, 2013). -There are more educational apps written for iPad than all other tablets on the market. (Guernesy, 2013).

Digital textbooks offer some great advantages over conventional textbooks, some examples include: - Less weight for the students to carry from class to class. - Students being better prepared for class by having materials with them. - Significantly smaller Etext renewal fees when compared to print textbook adoptions. - Etexts allow the subject to teach the most current information in the field. (Schaffhauser, 2012)

How Etexts on the iPad help the high school students at GCS Besides being a fun and modern way to learn material, the iPad used as a primary textbook will help students by: - Allowing them to directly access their textbooks quickly and conveniently. - Students will carry significantly less weight on their backs from class to class. • Students will have access to the most current text-issued materials and most relevant learning. How iPads as textbooks help budget cost for the GCS high school iPads are not only functional for the students and teachers, they can help rein in high budget costs for textbook replacement. - iPads as Etexts can help eliminate the 5-10 year subject textbook replacement fees. - As opposed to hundreds of dollars to upgrade textbooks, and replace lost books, Etexts are extremely reasonable, most Etexts are $15-$25 per text to buy or replace. - The device will become a piece of equipment that the student owns, and thus takes better care of. (Schaffhauser, 2012)
