  2. How do I receive the Helper?Being willing to be put to work Mark 10:43-45 43But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His [a]life a ransom for many.” Acts 1:8 8but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” By The power of the Spirit, the Good News of the Gospel will spread ! The power of the Spirit IS NOT to increase our own inner spirit and Holiness – but to be applied and put to work for the glory of the Kingdom.

  3. The Spirit • His Priority - His Passion – His Purpose • Glorify the Father and the Son • God doesn’t need our ABILITY • But he wants our AVAILABILITY • Are we a Living Sacrifice? What will we give up? • Is our body His temple? How do we respect our body? • Are we truly interested in: • Not my will, but your will be done • Are we willing to wash feet? What job will you NOT DO? • Henry Blackaby – Experiencing God • See where God is working and join Him

  4. Do Good You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doinggood and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38 7How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation,And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7

  5. Luke 11:5-20Doing Good • 5Then He said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and from inside he answers and says, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. • 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. 11 Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will yourheavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

  6. Gifts of the Spirit1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 No one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

  7. Page 72 - Moody “God has created a great many children who have no power, and the reason is, they have not the gift of the Holy Ghost for service… They have not sought this gift.” Being FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT Does not mean – SPIRIT FOR WORSHIP Singing, clapping, lifting of hands, etc. Now that the sermon is over, It is time for the SERVICE to begin!

  8. Doers of the Word • James 1:27 27Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. • Matthew 25:44-46 • 44Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ • 45Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ • 46These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

  9. Kingdom Workershttp://www.ciy.com/move/about/kingdom-workers A Kingdom Worker is a Christian who uses whatever sphere of influence he or she has to proclaim the message of Jesus. Kingdom Workers include school teachers, moms, high school basketball players, bass guitarists, doctors and a countless list of others. Their ministry may look different, but they have each surrendered to Jesus, and are committed to using their gifts, abilities and relationships to advance his Kingdom. Pray for wisdom.Pray for God’s leading.Pray for God to go before you.

  10. 2 Timothy 3:10-17 A Final Charge to Timothy 10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  11. Being a Servanthttp://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Being-A-Servant#sthash.mesyZLli.dpuf Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.“ Romans 1:1-4 1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God 2 which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 2:5-8 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.

  12. Being a Servant Luke 22:24-30 And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest. And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called `Benefactors.' "But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant. 1 Corinthians 7:21-31 Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that. For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord's freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ's slave. You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. 1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

  13. What does it mean to be a servant? John 13:3-7 Washing of Feet 3Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, 4 got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. 5Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 So He came to Simon Peter. He said to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter.” John 21:15-17 The Love Motivation 15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep”.
