Mindset – The Big 5 --CTM, Inside Cover--

CTM provides practical tips for developing people

It’s universally applicable

Embrace culture of training to achieve results and develop people

Be Capital A accountable – genuinely care for the well-being and success of all other cadets

Be trusting and be trustworthy

Be a world-class trainer and a world-class trainee

Start every interaction with others from a perspective of mutual respect

Mindset operating within limits
Mindset--Operating within Limits--

POSITIVE – PROFESSIONAL – PURPOSEFUL – DEMANDING

No cadet will put another cadet in a position where he or she must compromise Citadel Core Values or disregard prescribed rules, regulations, or standards

4C system is deliberately and appropriately stressful while always remaining positive, professional, and purposeful

    • “We’re going focus on The Citadel Cadet Creed…”

    • “The Cadet Creed is important because…

      • “Links us to every past and future grad…

      • “It defines who we are as Citadel cadets…

      • “Knowing it is shows our pride…”

  • Obligation with specificity:

    • “We’re going to know it as individuals and a squad within the next two days…

    • “We’re going to know first two sentences tomorrow…”

  • Leader role:

    • “I intend to keep us on track by using every free minute to…”

    • “We’re going to recite as a group and as individuals…

    • “Expect me to start with one of you, then move to the next recruit, etc…

  • Be professional & respectful; focus on behavior

    • “Nice work…now step up your confidence…sound off…”

      • Or… “time for a challenge…”

    • “We’re not where we need to be as a squad…some individuals are doing well, others are lagging…expectation is we all know the Creed…”

      • “For those who have got it…work with your classmates on techniques…”

      • “For those who don’t have it…we’re going to create some mandatory rehearsal time for you…”

      • “So here’s what we’re going to do… “push ups as a squad… “report to my room at 1500 to practice the knowledge…”

  • Leader follow up

    • During follow up, “why are we not learning the Creed…”
