  1. Sketchbook Assignment #4 Size Distortions DUE DATE: Thursday, April 5, 2012

  2. Choose two ordinary objects at home or in the classroom which have a relationship to one another but are not the same size at all. (Like: the front door and a key) Try to pick one very small object and one very large object.

  3. Draw the two different sized objects as if they are the same size, and draw them so they have a new relationship at the new size. (So: the key is as big as the door in the new relationship, and can only lean upon it!)

  4. You may also choose to reverse the size relationship – so what was once the larger object is now the smaller, and vice versa (ex. a giant TV remote leaning against a tiny television)

  5. Try to draw from observation, rather than your imagination – either observe from real life, or (if that’s not possible), observe from an image.

  6. Suggestions • Sports: baseball and a stadium, a golf ball and a pond, a hockey puck and a zamboni • Animals: dog bone and a pet store, horseshoe and a barn, cat and mouse (good for size reversal) • Objects: TV and remote, hot dog and picnic table, car keys and a car, leaf and a tree, easel and paintbrush • BE CREATIVE! Use colour OR pencil shading
