  2. Geo-spatial Search Engine • Team Members: Liqiang Cheng, Naiqi Jin, Jason Yap • Project summary: A Geo-spatial search system that collects and combines data from various sources into a single searchable repository.

  3. Project Components • Crawler Component: • Crawls websites such as www.yelp.com and www.urbanspoon.com to build an indexed list of locations of different types. For example, restaurants or hotels can be gathered. • Search Component: • The User Interface will be an interactive Google map where the search area can be specified by the user or automatically determined based on the user’s location. All relevant restaurants in that area are returned. • Ranking mechanism for search results. • Mobile application / mobile-friendly version of the website.

  4. Software Used • Crawler Component: • Java • Spatial Indexing, Storage/Retrieval: • MySQL, Apache Tomcat: JSP • User Interface: • Apache Tomcat: JSP • HTML, Javascript, jQuery, Google Maps, Adobe Flash, Photoshop.
