    3. 2008 Goal To partner with city to implement at least two of the recommendations from the Urban Fire Safety Report Create Urban Fire Safety Task Force

    4. 2008 Columbus – NFPA Partnership Implementation of three recommendations Analyze fires, deaths, and injuries by location. Create partnership with housing organizations regarding vacant homes and fires. Implement Remembering When™: A Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults.

    6. Goal of 2007 Project Partner with fire departments from two major cities to identify and define causes of fire deaths and injuries among high-risk populations and the unique challenged associated with reducing them. Work with leadership within the departments to develop strategies to address the challenges.

    7. Project Approach Interview fire department personnel and community leaders in two major cities (Louisville/Milwaukee) Interview leaders of CDC-funded smoke alarm programs Conduct literature review to complement “on the ground” information

    9. Emphasis of Public Education Programs in Three Communities. Fire Prevention Week materials emphasizing hazard prevention. New arson prevention program for people in communities. Community presentations.

    20. Other Outcomes Lt. David Sawyer, Community Relations Officer, received scholarship to attend NFPA Safety Conference and Expo Firefighter Alonzo King will participate in the Remembering When Home visit scholarship conference. Columbus team has helped with outreach to other communities including Cleveland and Portsmouth, Ohio.

    21. Urban Fire Safety Public Education Task Force First Meeting will be November 13 Second larger meeting in 2008
