  7. ATN accommodation Drafting GroupADG • Purpose: • to study the accommodation of ATN aircraft (i.e. ED110A compliant) in the FANS-1/A environment • Tasks • To agree a list of technical and operational issues which could prevent accommodation of ATN aircraft in FANS-1/A airspace, and develop a set of potential resolutions to those issues. • To develop a specification for a trial in a FANS-1/A environment (e.g. NAT) in order to validate the potential resolutions identified in the previous task. • Develop a draft interoperability specification for the accommodation of ATN aircraft in FANS-1/A airspace for input into RTCA SC189/Eurocae WG53.

  8. ADG Progress • First Meeting April 2006 • IRRF Approach Accepted • Main Outcome: • Identification of all known issues that could potentially prevent an ATS Provider from accommodating ATN equipped aircraft • Second meeting June 2006 • Main outcome: • Formulation of potential resolutions to the issues identified • Several issues identified to be reported to the DLSG

  9. ADS-C Application Issue • Current ADS-C SARPs version • Meets most requirements but has shortcomings • Airlines do not support it • Improvement proposals available • ADG Proposed Solution • Improve ADS-C application if it is done by June 2007 • Working Arrangements to be defined and accepted by DLSG • ACP Coordination key element
