Multimedia Guide for New Year 7 Pupils • A school wants to create a multimedia version of its guidance for new pupils coming into Year 7. • It wants a house style which follows the school’s existing house style but which will also be appealing to 10 and 11 year olds. • The multimedia version can be in the form of a slideshow or web pages. • You are required to use ICT hardware and software to produce this new multimedia guide. Clear evidence must be provided. • The multimedia guide should be of at least six pages or slides. The following slides list exactly what you need to do

Multimedia Guide for New Year 7 Pupils The multimedia guide should be of at least six pages or slides and include: • An analysis of two existing websites or presentations, one of which could be a school’s website. • An original or edited master page or slide template. • An effective navigation system for the six pages or slides. • A suitable balance of text and images for the intended audience. • Two original images you have created, one of which uses at least three layers. • An original animation or animated movie with storyboard. • An animated moving banner combining text and graphics. • An original sound, piece of music or narration. • An evaluation your work including a review of feedback given and received.

  4. Task 1 Organise and store information in a suitable folder structure (5 marks) • Throughout the assessment: • 1. Organise your work using suitable folders e.g. • A folder for unit 4 Controlled assessment work • Subfolders for each task – use the pupil guides to find out what you will need • 2. Use suitable file names so the examiner can tell what is in each file • Create a file of screen dumps showing ALL the folders and files you have • used. Save the file with an appropriate name in an appropriate folder • 3. Move or copy a file to a different folder • Create a file of screen dumps of you files backed up to a USB drive and a • description of how and when the school network is backed up. Save the file with • an appropriate name in an appropriate folder • 4. Ensure your work is backed up appropriately. • Create a file of screen dumps showing you have moved or copied a file to a • different folder.   5. Task 2 (12 marks) Analysis and Research Study TWO different web site – one can be the school’s - and describe: the purpose of each the house style of each the target audience of each 2. Compare and contrast the design and layouts used in each e.g. navigation, Template design, hyperlinks or hotspots, anchors or bookmarks, rollover buttons, pop up comments, mood colours, no of pages, interactive features, etc 3. Do screen dumps to show the Web sites used and example of the features listed above.

Task 3 Design ( 5 marks) • Research individual presentation or web page • Describe the purpose of the web pages • Explain how or why your solution is fit for purpose and audience • Design of master page style showing: • Basic layout • Navigation features to be usede.g. • navigation bars , rollover buttons, hyperlinks, bookmarks etc • Collection and design of mood colours/moodboard

Task 4 (12 marks) • Implementation • 1.Create or edit a template fit for purpose making good use of house style colours e.g. • Standardised layout/template • Background style/colour scheme • Navigation colour scheme • Logo • 2. Enter text for purpose on each of the 6 pages • 3. Use navigation tools from a library of facilities provided • by the software Additional techniques

Task 5 Graphical Images (10 mark) • Produce two images in a suitable format. • One of these images must be created with at least three layers. • Both images optimised and saved in appropriate format • Screen dump evidence of the techniques used to create graphic e.g. • standard shapes and or lines • fill tools • brush tools • text tools • selection tools • distortion tools • sizing or cropping tools • repeated patterning or cloning • transparency tools. etc. Additional techniques

  10. Task 6 Animation (10 marks) • 1. Create a storyboard for the animation • 2. Create an animation containing 6 frames • 3. Make the animation and screen dumped evidence of at least • 3 techniques you have used e.g. • cloning, • onion skinning, • tweening, • rotoscoping • grouping • backdrops • looping • 3D • etc. • 4. Explain the timings and / or frame rates you have used • 5. Create an animated banner combining text and graphics • Creating an original movie or still digital image for use later on counts as research and is not included in the controlled task time. Task 8 Evaluation (14 marks) • Write your evaluation you can do this as you go along or whenyou have completed all the work. • Include the following: • evaluation of working practice • description of the suitability and effectiveness of the features analysed • evaluation of tools and techniques used • justification of choice of image, movies, sound and animation optimisation • consideration of download times and file size • comments on modifications made with reasons • suggestions for improvement • consideration of output to the web • evaluation of effectiveness of final solution

Additional Techniques You can get 9 additional marks for using 9 of the following additional techniques Web/presentation effects: Rollover buttons Web/presentation effects: Add special effects to objects e.g. Shadow. Raised / outer glow. Web/presentation effects: Make some use of drop down boxes or expanding collapsing menus of at least two choices Web/presentation effects: hyperlinks in the form of text or graphics to external files Animation effects: More complex animation of at least 6 frames or techniques or a mixture of both Animation effects: Use of background or overlay frames Animation effects: Looping or repeating techniques Movie effects: title or credits Movie effects: video or transition effects Sound effects: Envelopes, echo, etc Sound effects: Looping or repeating Sound effects: Overlay tracks Sound effects: Podcasting Interactive element(s) from a library
