Biography of Bolívar • Simón Bolívar was in Caracas, Venezuela, on July 24, 1783. • Cuando tenía tres años su padre murió y cuando tenía nueve años murió su madre también. • Bolívar had a tutor while he was growing up that taught him about the French and American Revolutions. That was what inspired him to fight for the freedom of Venezuela and the other countries. • Simón got married in 1802, but his wife died of yellow fever. • On August 15, 1805, Simón and his tutor met in Rome on Aventine Hill were he vowed to free his country from slavery. • Simón Bolívar was given the name “ The Liberator” for freeing multiple South American countries from Spanish rule. • Simón Bolívar murió en 1830 a los 47 años.

Simón Bolívar’s Achievements • Simón ayuda Venezuela declarar su independencia de España. • To do this he became the leader of a rebel group called the Patriotic Society of Caracas. • On July 5, 1811, Patriotic Society of Caracas officially declared their independence from Spain. • After they declared their independence and created the Republic of Venezuela, Bolívar helped write a constitution. • This constitution was written only by white males, so it didn’t favor non-white people in Venezuela. This was a bad mistake because the non-white Venezuelans teamed up with the Spanish army to take Venezuela back. Simón ended up having to retreat to save his life. • Bolívar and the rest of the rebel group eventually did become a free country. • En honor del sacrificio de Bolívar, el dinero de Venezuela se llama bolivares.

Simón Bolívar’s Achievements • Simón Bolívar ayudó a otro condado tanto que fue nombrado después de él. • This country was named Bolivia in 1825. • Bolívar was priveledged with this honor because he helped it gain independence from Spain. • Bolivia wrote their declaration of independence on August 6, 1825. ( That is Bolivia’s Independence Day.) • Bolivia was the first of the Spanish colonies to declare their independence. • Simón personaly wrote Bolivia’s constitution for the new republic in 1826. • Simón Bolívar es un héroe en Bolivia como George Washington es para los Estados Unidos.

Simón Bolívar’s Legacy • Bolívar is remembered for freeing Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia from Spanish slavery. • Simón se honra en todaAmérica Latina. • He gave up his life in order to make the country’s citizens better. • He mainly only cared that his country was treated fairly and just. • Hay muchasestatuas de Bolívar. • For Simón to have his parents died when he was young and then help five countries gain independence is a remarkable feat. • He is the rule model for many South American people due to his selfless and determined actions.
