  3. An invitation The Leading Edge Research Programis an invitation to small teams of staff to devise, with external support, a series of one year research projects to reflect on, investigate and improve an area of professional practice.

Why is ISF interested in this programme? • teachers make the difference & play the key role in leading learning. • ISF wants its teachers to work in a creative, innovative & collaborative professional environment. • In an increasingly complex society, a research-led educational community is best placed to drive effective learning.

  6. What is it about? Identifying a theme; turning it into a question; systematically investigating through a research process The questions are the kinds you might ask everyday about your practice what do you want to change? what are you curious about? What irritates you? What would you prefer it to look like?

  7. How does it work? • 4 x face to face meetings per year; • 2 x on-line group meetings; • Research Team meetings as required during the project period • internal conference rehearsal meeting, • leading to conference presentations

Face to Face Visits • Typical face to face sessions: • thursday afternoon/Friday, 30-45 minute meetings with each research team from 09.00-16.30; • fridaytwilight, all participants 17.00-19.00; • Saturday all participants 09.30-14.00. Light refreshments provided. • All research sessions to be held at the school.

  9. What happens at the end of the project? A 45 minute Presentation of your outcomes and findings to a professional audience (for example at an internal staff development conference) including an e-poster (2-D version opposite) Possibility to write a professional journal article Possible further presentations at international conferences Significant Research grants will be available to support participation
