  3. Survivors have been left traumatised. Six-year-old Yumni will have to have her hand amputated.

  4. French firefighters were able to free TV repairman Jansen Silalalahi, who was trapped between a motorbike and a cupboard.

  5. Residents, deprived of supplies, have resorted to looting local shops.

  6. It is thought that around 1,000 people have been killed on the island of Nias.
