  • To what extent do the students develop intercultural competence after blogging with residents in Swaziland and Malaysia?
  • To what extent do the students develop global literacy competence after blogging with residents in Swaziland and Malaysia?
  • Do students perceive educational value after the blogging activity?

Results

Demonstrated increased intercultural competence

Evidence suggests the development of global literacy, specifically with theme of the awareness of awareness of world trends and interactions.

Majority enjoyed developing personal bond with residents of other countries as well as valuing learning experience.

  • Before I started reading what you posted, I imagined people like Tarzan and thought that everyone in Suriname were crazy jungle people and had tigers for pets…..but now I know that it isn’t true there are villages and stores and people have jobs, etc…..
  • I thought this blogging activity was an excellent way to learn about different cultures because it’s from people with first hand knowledge and who actually lived it, not like a text book. It’s more real when you hear it directly from a person and I think you get more information that way. Plus you can ask questions and know you’re getting the correct answer.
