  3. Table Of Contents “The Color of Our Insides” BY Jennifer Decker and Emily Camp Grade: 3rd Unit: Biology Lesson: The human organs

  4. The purpose of our lesson. In this lesson we are introducing the human organs. We want the class to understand the inside of their body. Plus, to know that no matter what the person looks like on the outside we are all the same in the inside. If there is someone with different “insides” we can discuss the reasons why and how they are still the same as everyone else.

  5. This would be the first lesson on the human organs. We will start out with asking the diverse children to come to the front of the room. Then, we would ask the class if these children are the same in the inside. This will give us a better idea on how the class thinks about the “different” people. Next, we will show the picture of organs from different races and show how they all look the same. We will then continue the lesson on the names of the organs of the stomach region. *Introduction*

  6. Discussion of Inner Organs • Now we are going to talk about particular organs of the stomach area. These organs are: stomach, large and small intestine, kidneys, and liver.

  7. The Stomach • This picture is of the stomach. We will go over on how the stomach works and what it is connected to. This picture will help them understand how EVERYBODY has the same stomach.

  8. First Website • www.madsu.org/~lynn/VH/ • This website will help with this lesson because there is a lot of details about the body and its organs. This website will benefit the teacher and students. The teacher will be able to show different pictures to the students.

  9. Large Intestine • This picture is of the large intestine. We will discuss how the large intestine works and what it does for the body. This photo will help the students to understand that EVERYBODY has the same organs.

  10. Second Website • www.google.com • This website is also very useful for both teachers and students. This website helps finding a lot of information. It is a good place to find out new information about the insides of the body and very good pictures. The students can learn a lot of new things from this website.

  11. Small Intestine • This is a picture of the small intestine. We will talk about its functions and how it works in the body. This photo will enhance the knowledge of the students about how EVERYONE is the same.

  12. Third Website • www.aolatschool.com • This website is just awesome. It is designed for kids. It is easy to follow and has a lot of information about all kinds of things. This website is a good one for this lesson because the students can explore this website for different information about the topic.

  13. Kidneys • This is a picture of the kidneys. We will teach the students about the functions and how the kidneys work in the body. This lesson and picture will help the children learn that they are ALL the same inside and out.

  14. Fourth Website • www.nlm.nih.gov/research/visible/animations.html • This website can help teachers to discover new pictures and facts about the body. This website can also help the teachers think of the new ideas for a lesson.

  15. Liver • Here is a picture of the liver. In this lesson, we will discuss its functions and how it works in the body. This will help the students to understand that they are ALL the same no matter what.

  16. Fifth Website • www.ceismc.gatech.edu/busyt/ • This website is a great one for teachers. It has ideas for every subject. This website helps the teachers with lesson plans and ideas of new topics. Overall this website is very helpful for teachers to help their students learn as much as possible.

  17. We will then pass out snacks and have the children talk about how the food is digested in their systems. We will ask questions if necessary to help with the discussion. Then, well will have a group activity with the ideas of the digestion process. This will lead up to next weeks lesson of digestion. Discussion

  18. Rapping it up! After, the discussion we will have a review session when the children do a picture diagram. They will be labeling and coloring the stomach area.

  19. Summary of Lessons We will be discussing the organs of the stomach area. We will touch the names and duties of those organs. With the fun review at the end of the lesson. Throughout the whole lesson we will stress that everyone one is the same in the inside and no one can judge a book by it’s cover.

  20. Everyone is the same inside and out. Diversity is essential in life.
