Advanced Nuclear Technology (ANT) • New nuclear power plants must overcome a number of regulatory, economic, technical, and social challenges prior to becoming a reality • Program efforts focused around: • Facilitating standardization across the new fleet • Transferring technology to new plant designs • Ensuring top plant performance from start of operations • Reduce overall deployment risk and uncertainty • Supporting development of advanced nuclear plants and associated strategic initiatives

Current Generation Nuclear Plants Plant Documentation Physical Plant Must Conform As-built information must be accurately reflected on plant documentation. Next Generation Nuclear Plants Virtual Plant Data Centric Automation Plant Documentation Physical Plant Must Conform As-built information must be accurately entered into the Information Repository which then produces plant documentation.

Going Forward • CM PLANNING NEEDS TO BEGIN FROM TIME OF FACILITY CONCEPTION • THE OWNER/OPERATOR MUST “CHAMPION” CM BY DEVELOPING A STRATEGY/PLAN TO DEFINE THE PROGRAM • CONFIGURATION INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE COLLECTED AS SOON AS PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND SITE STUDIES BEGIN • REQUIREMENTS NEED TO BE IDENTIFIED AND HOW/WHERE THEY ARE SATISFIED DOCUMENTED • THE VIRTUAL PLANT CONCEPT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED • EXCELLENT TIME TO DEFINE AND DOCUMENT MARGINS
