  2. Mission to Cuba….A country frozen in time • Area: 115,000 sq. km. (largest Caribbean island) • Population: 11 million

  3. Trip Itinerary We flew to Santigao, Cuba from Miami aboard a charter flight. We spent 3 days in Santiago conducting the first forum. We flew from Santiago to Havana, arriving at 11:30 PM then drove 41/2 hours to Santa Clara. After arriving at 4:30 AM, our next forum began at 9:00 AM. We spent the last night of our trip in downtown Havana before returning to Miami.

  4. THIS TRIP TO CUBA WAS SPECIAL TO ME , BECAUSE I WAS BORN IN CUBA. MY FATHER WAS A CAREER NAVY MAN AND HE AND MY MOTHER WERE STATIONED AT GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE IN 1948. HE WAS REASSIGNED SIX MONTHS AFTER MY BIRTH. THIS WAS MY FIRST RETURN TRIP TO CUBA. I HAVE KNOWN BARRY ST. CLAIR SINCE THE EARLY 1970’S WHEN WE WERE BOTH INVOLVED IN YOUTH MINISTRY. WHILE I MOVED ON TO OTHER VENTURES, BARRY HAS SPENT HIS LIFE TRAINING YOUTH MINISTERS IN MORE THAN 30 COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD. HE HAS ONE OF THE MOST FAR REACHING MINISTRIES IN THE WORLD IN REGARDS TO DEVELOPING STRONG LEADERS TO REACH YOUNG PEOPLE. CHECK OUT HIS MINISTRY AT: WWW.REACH-OUT.ORG BACKGROUND

  8. MISSION OBJECTIVE THE OBJECTIVE OF THE MISSION WAS TO TRAIN LEADERS THROUGH TWO INTENSE “JESUS FOCUSED YOUTH MINISTRY” FORUMS. EACH FORUM LAST THREE DAYS AND CONSIST OF A SERIES OF LECTURES 30-45 MINUTES IN LENGTH , FOLLOWED BY SMALL GROUP SESSION OF 1-2 HOURS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A LOT OF SMALL GROUP TIME TO MAKE SURE THE LEADERS ARE GRASPING THE SUBJECT MATTER AND ARE MAKING PROPER APPLICATION OF THE PRINCIPLES THAT ARE BEING TAUGHT. THE SMALL GROUP TIME ALSO ALLOWS THEM TO ACTUALLY DEVELOP DETAILED PLANS OF ACTION FOR IMPLEMENTING “THE JESUS FOCUSED YOUTH MINISTRY STRATEGY” WHEN THEY RETURN TO THEIR LOCAL CHURCHES. THE SMALL GROUPS ARE LED BY REACH OUT STAFF AND NATIONALS WHO HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED AS “EAGLE LEADERS”.

  18. Personal Observations The people of Cuba are a warm hearted people with an intense Spiritual hunger. The young men and women we trained are passionate about reaching their country for Christ. They are intelligent, visionary, committed and willing to sacrifice to achieve their objective. I know from years of ministry and business experience that Leadership is the key to building a movement. In fact as Doug Hartman says in “Leadership Through Discipleship”, “A movement expands only as fast as leadership is developed.” I am convinced that REACH OUT YOUTH STRATEGIES” (WWW.REACH-OUT.ORG) has laid the foundation for a strong Spiritual movement among Cuba’s youth. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to participate and to share some measure of truth about who we are in Christ and how He desires to work through us to accomplish His purposes.
