  1. But When God…

  2. Think about it! OUR IDENTITY WRONGLY COMES FROM: • WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED. • WHAT WE HAVE. • WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT US.

  3. Our tendency is to fall into The Performance Trap

  4. Yet I could have confidence in myself if anyone could. If others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!5 For I was circumcised when I was eight days old, having been born into a pure-blooded Jewish family that is a branch of the tribe of Benjamin. So I am a real Jew if there ever was one! What's more, I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. 6 And zealous? Yes, in fact, I harshly persecuted the church. And I obeyed the Jewish law so carefully that I was never accused of any fault. Phil 3:4-6

  5. OUR TENDENCY TO RELATE TO GOD BY FOLLOWING RULES.

  6. MY CONNECTION WITH GOD DEPENDS ON WHAT I PRODUCEAND HOW I PERFORM.

  7. But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. Phil 3:7-9

  8. Rubbish - skubala (skoo'-bal-a); what is thrown to the dogs, excrement, dung. OUR WORKS ARE A LOAD OF SKUVBALON

  9. BUT WHEN GOD! But when God…called me by his grace…to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles…Gal. 1:15-16

  10. RELATING TO GOD & CONNECTING TO GOD STARTS WITH GOD

  11. 27 John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven…He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:30 LESS ABOUT ME & MORE ABOUT JESUS.

  12. IT MEANS: KNOW WHO I AM 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12

  13. IT MEANS: MY FOCUS IS JESUS. let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles… Let usfix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith… Heb 12:1- 2

  14. WHEN I REALIZE THAT GOD ACCEPTS ME THROUGH CHRIST, I AM NO LONGER LIVING FORHIS APPROVAL BUT FROMHIS APPROVAL.
