  3. “I can…” Review 3 • At what position is the Northern Hemisphere in Winter, Fall and Spring? Explain. Winter is position A Spring is position D Fall is position B I can tell because the Northern hemisphere is pointed way from the sun in the winter. D A C B

  4. “I can…” Review 4 • Name the phase of the Moon below. Is it waxing or waning? How do you know? The phase of the moon below is first quarter. I know it is first quarter and the lit side make a lower case “b”. This means it is being born – waxing – and the shape tells mea it is first quarter.

  5. “I can…” Review 5 • Is it true that the reason the moon goes through phases is because the angle the Sun hits it changes? Explain… No, it is not true . The moon goes through phases because as it orbits, we see more or less of the side that is always lit

  6. “I can…” Review 6 • Can an eclipse happen during a crescent moon? Why or why not. • Why don’t we have an eclipse every month? No it can’t because the moon is not directly between the earth and the sun when it is in crescent moon. It has to be a new moon to do that. We don’t have an eclipse every month because the moons orbit is tilted 5 degrees which cause the moon to be too high or too low to have an eclipse

A lunar eclipse will happen in two weeks, when the moon is half way through its cycle and in full moon. The next solar eclipse will be in about 6 months, when everything is lined up perfectly again

Those are sunspots The form when twisted magnetic fields block convection The occur in patterns that occur in 10-12 year cycles They can cause solar flares, which brighten the sun and make the earth warmer The solar flares can send CME which can effect our electricity The particles in a CME can also cause the northern lights.
