  1. TAS 2009 – Year in Review A Presentation for The Angelfish Society For the General Membership Meeting December 13, 2009 Prepared by Tamar Stephens, President

  2. What did we do in 2009? Our big accomplishments: • Launched a new version of our website • Strategic Plan • Accepted invitation to hold an angelfish show at ACA 2010 Expo

  3. We launched our newly-designed web site • Fresh new look • Improved structure for easier navigation • Improved membership log in with the ability to retrieve your forgotten password • No more pages buried several layers deep • Fresh new look to the TAS forum

  4. Developed our first strategic plan • Purpose of a strategic plan is to bring focus and provide direction to our organization. • Addresses five areas: administrative; membership services; reputation; education; standards/research. • Currently focuses on short-term goals, but designed to be a living document to allow TAS to develop long-range objectives.

  5. Partnering with ACA • Accepted invitation to partner with ACA for the 2010 Expo • TAS will hold our first TAS sanctioned, judged and sponsored angelfish show at the ACA expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July, 2010. • This will give us national recognition and will help bring knowledge of TAS standards to angelfish lovers far and wide.

  6. TAS members who contributed to many other TAS activities throughout the year…

  7. New Version of Website Thank you to : • Benny Escobar for submitting the new design. • The web design committee members who developed the criteria for the new website and created a new map to give the website a more transparent, easier to navigate structure: Nic Paquette, Lori Carr, Tamar Stephens, Don Mitchell. • Don Mitchell for the many, many long hours building the new version of the website and importing all the information from the old website!

  8. Web Master Thank you to: • Lori Carr for years of dedicated service as our web master before passing the baton to Don Mitchell! • Don Mitchell for taking on the role and responsibilities of webmaster, and for doing an excellent job of keeping our website up to date!

  9. Friday Night Chat Thank you to: • Don Mitchell for starting up a Friday night chat in the TAS chat room. • Robert Wright for taking on the role of moderator for our Friday night chat sessions.

  10. Door prizes • Thank you to the people who have donated door prizes for our meetings, including • Live fish from Chuck Hawks, Ted Santos, and Bernard Tibbetts • Gift certificates from Steve Rybicki (I may have missed some people - but sincere thanks to all)

  11. The FinTAStic Crew • Thank you to the FinTAStic crew who have pulled together to give our newsletter a fresh new look and start delivering some excellent issues of our official newsletter: Tony Vaughan, Sarah Smith, Jan Kesler, and Tamar Stephens. • Thank you to everyone who has contributed articles, or has allowed themselves to be interviewed for FinTAStic.

  12. Photo Contest Thank you to: • Sarah Smith and Bob Barone for doing such a wonderful job of keeping the photo contests rolling right along. • All TAS members who have submitted photos for the photo contests! • The original purpose of the photo contest was to build a library of photos for use in the Phenotype Library. Ongoing photo contests allow us to continue to build this resource. • The contest also give you a chance to show off your prettiest fish to your fellow TAS members.

  13. Spreading the word about TAS Kudos to: • Ted Santos, who has included free TAS memberships with some of his Aquabid sales! • Chuck Hawks for giving presentations about TAS at fish shows and fish clubs around the country!

  14. TAS at the ACA 2010 Expo • Even more kudos to Chuck Hawks for laying the foundation that got us invited to partner with ACA for the 2010 Expo • And thank you Chuck for much of the early planning and for taking on the role of liaison between TAS and the ACA expo planners! 15. 16. If you didn’t see your name… • I’m sure I missed some people who have contributed over this past year. Please blame it on my faulty memory, not on lack of appreciation. • So – a hearty thank you to everyone mentioned in this presentation, and to everyone I missed. • And hearty thank to all of you who are members for having the vision to see the value of TAS, and for providing your support through becoming a member.

  17. Let’s look forward to an even better, more exciting year in 2010! The End
