  3. But more importantly… Fiesta speaks of… • The people’s past • The people’s ways of life

  4. But more importantly… Fiesta speaks of… • The people’s beliefs • The people’s dreams and aspirations

  5. What is Sinulog? • Cebu’s biggest and most popular festival held on the 3rd day of January • A century-old tradition observed in the Visayan region, in honor of the Holy Image of Señor Santo Niño

  6. What is Sinulog? • Symbolizes the Filipinos’ pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity • A nine-day fiesta celebration with two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day

  7. What is Sinulog Dance? • The dance is patterned after the water current movement which Cebuano’s refer to as “sulog” of what was known as Cebu’s Pahina River • Characterized by two-forward and one–backward steps, synchronized to the beat of drums and shouts of “Pit Señor! Viva Sto. Niño”

  8. Fiesta and its relevance to us • Fiesta enjoins people in the community during its celebration. • We can celebrate fiesta in a way that we are happy without spending too much. • Fiesta should serve as the uniting force for us humanity.
